A story that lasts...

FOR OVER 85 YEARS

1927

This is the year it all began. Just back from military service, Lucain Husseau and René Moynaton joined forces to acquire a plot of land at La Plainelière de Courlay in the Deux-Sèvres region. On this plot, they erected their first building (which still exists today) to house the looms. The business began with the production of simple raw materials, cotton canvas and twill.

1934

Juste & René have become renowned for the quality of their fabrics. Fabrics that lasted, fabrics that resisted wear and color that held up to washing. These materials made for solid, high-quality made-in-France garments that lasted a very long time in use (an essential condition in those days). Gradually, "QUI DURE" became KIDUR. And it was on the cover of the 1934 collection that the KIDUR brand first appeared.

1935

The KIDUR trademark was registered on October 28, 1935 with its original logo. KIDUR" fabric resists wear and tear. Thus began the official Kidur adventure, which would continue to be manufactured at La Plainelière de Courlay.

1939

The KIDUR weaving business, with its 20 looms, was slowed by the onset of war and difficulties in supplying cotton yarns. During the Occupation, Juste Husseau and one of his friends, Jacques Roy, took in draft dodgers and hid them at La Plainelière. As a sign of resistance, they also took in British officers and airmen, ensuring their escape from France. At the end of hostilities, sensing a shortage of fabrics due to the lack of production in recent years, the two founders decided to build a new workshop, where 48 looms would be refurbished by these military patriots and allies.

1945

1945, end of hostilities. Juste & René develop a clothing business that lasts. The clothing workshop is enlarged and equipped with a vocational training school. From the age of sixteen, young boys and girls from the canton go to work at Kidur with the certainty of learning a trade, whether as weaver or seamstress. This desire to maintain and pass on know-how will never leave us.

1960/70

The golden age at La Plainelière

This is the golden age of the Kidur factory. Nearly 400 people weave, cut and make every piece of functional menswear on a daily basis. Their only obsessions: quality and durability. At that time, Kidur was sold in France by a squad of salesmen, well known for their KIDUR trucks. Kidur representatives travelled the countryside, selling the company's products in boutiques or directly to consumers. Back in the day, Kidur made pants, ribs, shirts, overshirts, jackets and overalls. These garments constituted the worker's essential wardrobe. Pieces from this era can be found today in Vintage boutiques around the world.

1988

The factory ran into difficulties, and Made in France garments were shunned in favor of imported products. Managers, ardent defenders of Made in France, took up the torch and decided to use the factory's know-how for other activities, such as manufacturing for luxury brands.

Kidur continues to be manufactured in Courlay, but to a lesser extent.

2018

The Manufacture decided to relaunch the machine and showcase its little piece of heritage.

Our enduring team has conceived and developed a new collection inspired by our precious heritage. It brings together vintage Kidur models, archives, stories and memories of our former seamstresses,

Kidur is now available to the widest possible audience, with a collection of garments made in Courlay, France, in the original workshop.

2021

94 years later, the industrial site that gave birth to the brand is still in operation. Today, the company has 80 members, half of whom are dressmakers. Kidur is the French confectioner's determination to combine traditional know-how and historical heritage with modern organization. Based on these original values, the factory strives every day to produce and distribute a range of well-designed, high-quality garments. Kidur offers more than just a wardrobe, it's a state of mind, the desire to take the time to make clothes in France that last.
