Cutch basketweave shop coat


Up until the beginning of the 20th century, florists, pharmacists, booksellers and other shopkeepers all wore dust-coats, called “Shop coats”, over their regular clothes to protect them.

  • Buttons-up with five molded brass buttons, bar tack stitched eyelet buttonholes
  • Cut corner, double-stitched patch pockets, reinforced at the opening with diagonal bar tacks
  • Fitted sleeve
  • Split cuffs reinforced with bar stitching, adjustable buttoning with diagonal buttonholes
  • Sewn-in belt, patched onto the back to bring in the waist
  • Pleats in the back
  • Split in the middle of the back with diagonal bar tack stitching
  • Double stitching and traditional chain stitching with 100% cotton thhread
